TimberHomes is a design/build construction company in central Vermont. We make timber frames for barns, pavilions and cabins around New England, and build timber frame homes in our local community. Before there was TimberHomes, there was the Mountain School project. This farm-based school in Vershire, Vermont needed a new cow barn, and David and Josh came together to spend a year side by side teaching high schoolers how to cut joints so the students could build the barn themselves. After the raising, not ready to quit building together, Josh and David founded TimberHomes LLC in 2005. Timo joined the partnership soon after. Timber framing has been the foundation of our business since, and community projects have been a central part of what we do. In 2016 TimberHomes Vermont switched from being an LLC to a member managed cooperative, similar to a worker owned cooperative. Our vision of a collaborative design/build company has evolved and grown but our underlying desire to create work of soul, beauty and function remains the foundation. We hope to delight our clients, take pleasure in our work, support our local economy, and leAvenue our patch of the forest a little better than we found it.
